Get ready for Patricia Wettig's thorny comeback.  When ABC's drama series, Brothers & Sisters, returns for a second season, the 55-year-old actress will be playing a more irksome character that causes tension in Sally Field's side.

Broadcast on ABC, Brothers & Sisters is an Emmy Award-nominated drama series that centers on the California-based Walker family.  It stars Sally Field (Nora Walker), Calista Flockhart (Kitty Walker), and Rachel Griffiths (Sarah Walker Whedon), among others.

Wettig, who plays Holly Harper, was introduced in season 1 as a friend of William Walker.  After he died, it was discovered that they had an affair for several years, which produced William's illegitimate daughter, Rebecca (Emily VanCamp).

In the upcoming season, however, Holly will be taking delight in some newfound prosperity, thanks to an inheritance and the fact that her wine business with Nora's son, Thomas "Tommy" Walker (Balthazar Getty), is taking off.

"Now that I have this money I begin to wield a little power," Wettig revealed.  "My character is a little more complex.  One of the interesting things about a series is that they can pull out a new card and hand it to you.  You, as an actor, don't always have all the cards."

Behind the cameras, Wettig can easily use her powers given that her husband, Ken Olin, is an executive producer of the show, and their son, Cliff Olin, is one of the writers, and their daughter, Roxy, has a recurring role as well.  Nevertheless, she doesn't take advantage of her influence and says that her positive exposure on Brothers & Sisters is due to the fact that she takes her work seriously.

"I never feel like I want to use that card," she said.  "People assume that because I've got Ken's ear and Cliff's ear, which I do, that they're working it for me, and that isn't really true.”

Catch Wettig as Holly Harper on Brothers & Sisters when season 2 returns on Sunday, September 30 at 10/9c ABC.
