Rob Lowe and Rachel Griffiths aren’t the only Brothers & Sisters cast members with upcoming films.  Following the first season of the family drama, Matthew Rhys has focused his energy in his new romantic drama movie called The Edge of Love.  The project is currently filming in England and is directed by John Maybury.

This isn’t Matthew Rhys’ first dip in the silver screen. Previously, the 32-year-old Welsh actor has worked in films like Whatever Happened to Harold Smith?, The Abduction Club, and Love and Other Disasters.  On television, he currently plays the role of Kevin Walker, an openly gay lawyer on ABC’s Brothers & Sisters.

In The Edge of Love, Matthew Rhys plays the role of Dylan Thomas, alongside other principle cast members, Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, Love Actually) as Vera Phillips, Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Red Eye) as William Killick and Sienna Miller (Alfie, Factory Girl) as Caitlin MacNamara.

Written by Knightley’s mother, Sharman Macdonald, the said film is based on the life of Dylan Thomas.  Originally titled The Best Time of Our Lives, the plot revolves around the complex relationship involving two feisty and free-spirited women who are in love with the famous and charismatic Welsh poet.

Distributed by Lionsgate, The Edge of Love is slated for release in 2008.

In the meantime, fans of the Brothers & Sisters actor can catch his approaching movie called Virgin Territory, which is scheduled to hit the theaters on September 21.  Based on Giovanni Boccaccio's Decameron, the romantic comedy follows a group of young Florentines as they tell talk about tales of love and adventure during the black plague in Italy.  He plays the role of Count Dzerzhinsky, along with Hayden Christensen (Star Wars) as Lorenzo de Lamberti, Mischa Barton (The O.C.) as Pampinea, and Christopher Egan (Everwood) as Dioneo.
