On tonight's episode of Brothers and Sisters, Kitty (Calista Flockhart) and Robert (Rob Lowe) reach a crossroad in their marriage especially with her father William Walker's (guest starring Tom Skerritt) past indiscretions in mind. Meanwhile, Ryan (guest star Luke Grimes) makes a discovery about his mother's death and takes a huge leap in the wrong direction to vie for Rebecca's (Emily VanCamp) affection.
On the last episode, meanwhile, Robert found out that Kitty was hiding something from him, while Holly (Patricia Wettig) and Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) finally found balance in their relationship.
More shockingly, however, Julia (Sarah Jane Morris) took a leap of faith, as she made a life-changing decision, growing impatient for Tommy (Balthazar Getty) to return home. Yes, Morris confirmed that she moved from being a full-time cast member to recurring guest star status. For her part, Morris is more than happy with the path her character took.
"Julia leaves Tommy and makes a choice for herself. I like seeing that from her because she hasn't been the "do things for herself" type of character until this moment."
Despite her satisfaction with the episode, however, Morris said she still got pretty emotional parting with Brothers and Sisters.
"They could have let it be something that got swept under the rug, but they were kind enough to give me great material. It was a nice farewell, but it was very sad. The one particular day when I had to shoot the dinner and toast the family, I was crying all day."
As for how her character was developed on the ABC drama, Morris said there were a few things she could've changed, such as how Tommy and Julia worked through their issues, as well as "the whole fertility story," and being new parents, which she felt was crammed in one episode.
