After news of
Rob Lowe quitting Brothers and Sisters was released, there came the speculation that his on-screen wife
Calista Flockhart would exit as well. But even though the former is close to finalizing his departure, it's safe to say Kitty Walker will indeed still be around. That's because series executive producer David Marshall Grant expects her to keep working on the show.
According to the
Brothers and Sisters showrunner, the 45-year-old actress will become even more visible on the show. "We are all expecting Calista to come back next season as a series regular, and she is," Grant told
TV Guide. "We're all expecting to do a great year with her next year."
With a storyline involving taking over her husband's Senate seat and a battle with lymphoma, there's bound to be a lot more to do for Kitty. That goes for the rest of the Walker family as well. Hearing what David Marshall Grant said about Flockhart being back for another installment pretty much confirms the idea of a fifth season for
Brothers and Sisters. But we're still stuck with this fourth season, which will reportedly be the last for Rob Lowe. Many fans hope that his departure will be satisfying and graceful, but as of now the writers are just playing with several ideas as to how that will go.
"We have a bunch of ideas on the table, of course, and right now we're just leaving it open," David Marshall Grant announced. "It could be anything. Right now, we're just examining what would be the most exciting way to take us to the end of the season."
Despite the uncertainty of Robert McCallister's fate on
Brothers and Sisters though, there's still the matter of the actor getting a new gig. Apparently, he's still "in talks" for a new show on ABC.
As for Calista Flockhart, she'll be stuck playing Kitty for another season. It's not going to be so bad for her without Rob, is it? Maybe we'll just have to see.
