marked the end of the first week of the Fall 2013 season, and while the
major networks had nine returning favorites and one new premiere, it
was AMC that won the night.
The series finale of Breaking Bad
scored 10.3 million viewers, more than any non-football or news show on
the major networks. It was up 3.7 million viewers from last week's
episode, which was the previous all-time high for the Emmy-winning
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
That's up almost 7.5 million from last summer's Breaking Bad
finale and ends a dominant final season for the show, which definitely went out on top. The last three episodes of Breaking Bad
were the show's highest-rated episodes ever.
The boost also helped the post-Breaking Bad
talk show Talking Bad
, which had 4.4 million viewers at 10pm, four times its usual audience.
All the attention on cable took a big chunk out of the major networks. The Amazing Race
, The Good Wife
, The Mentalist
, Once Upon a Time
, The Simpsons
, Bob's Burgers
, Family Guy
and American Dad
were all down from their premieres one year ago, most by more than 1 million viewers. OUAT
in particular dropped almost 3 million viewers from its season 2 premiere.
The lone new premiere of Sunday night, ABC's Betrayal
at 10pm, started off quite slow with 5.16 million viewers. That's the second-lowest scripted premiere of the season, only ahead of ABC's other bomb, Lucky 7
. It's down more than 1.5 million from the debut of 666 Park Avenue
in the same time slot last year, and down almost 2 million viewers from the mid-season premiere of Red Widow
Perhaps things will look more optimistic for the networks next week when there's no Breaking Bad
to compete with, but in two weeks AMC brings back its other ratings giant, The Walking Dead
, so it looks like the cable network will be dominating Sunday night TV for the fall.
