AMC answered a few highly anticipated questions about the Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour today. The series stars Bob Odenkirk as the titular character, Saul Goodman, who originally appeared as Walter White's lawyer on Breaking Bad.
The series regulars include: Jonathan Banks as Mike Erhmantraut; Michael McKean as Saul's brother, Chuck; Rhea Seehorn as Kim; Patrick Fabian as Hamlin and Michael Mando as Nacho. They will represent both legitimate and illegitimate sides of the law.
The series is set in 2002. That's six years before Saul meets Walter White when he was known as the small town lawyer Jimmy McGill. At the time, he's searching for his destiny and hustling to make ends meet. Jimmy has a sometimes contentious working relationship with "fixer" Erhmantraut, who also is known from Breaking Bad.
Better Call Saul will follow Jimmy's journey and transformation into Saul Goodman. AMC has called the tone of the new series as "dramatic, woven through with dark humor."
The series is currently in production in Albuquerque, NM and will premiere in early 2015.
