The 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sunday, September 22 at 8pm on CBS, but the Creative Arts ceremony is held on week earlier. While the ceremony is held Sunday night, viewers will have to wait until Saturday, September 21 to watch an edited version of the events on FXX.

The Creative Arts Emmys honor technical achievements such as editing, sound mixing, cinematography, casting, visual effects, stunts, makeup and more. But the big events are the awards for Guest Acting.

The first big award of the night went to Melissa Leo for her guest performance in FX’s Louie, besting two Saturday Night Live hosts (Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig) as well as 30 Rock‘s Elaine Stritch. For Guest Actor in a Comedy, legend Bob Newhart won his first ever Emmy for The Big Bang Theory.

For Drama, Dan Bucatisnky won for Scandal, beating such high-profile stars as Michael J. Fox for The Good Wife and Harry Hamlin for Mad Men. And despite the domination of cable dramas, Carrie Preston won the Guest Actress Emmy for The Good Wife.

Other winners include Netflix’s House of Cards (which is Netflix’s first win ever) and SNL winning for Art Direction, Hairstyling and Makeup, which gives it a total of 39 Emmys, beating Frasier for the most wins ever.

Also, Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn won the Emmy for Reality Hosts for Project Runway, beating last year’s winner, Tom Bergeron.

The big winners are HBOs’ Behind the Candelabra and Boardwalk Empire, which have won 8 and 4 respectively. Candelabra only lost one Creative Arts category for Cinematography to Top of the Lake. It will compete in five more categories next week, and if it wins all of them it will reach the record for most wins in a single year with 13, tying HBO’s John Adams miniseries.

Here is a complete list of the 2013 Creative Arts Emmy winners.
