Gary Anthony Williams was born on April 24, 1966 in Atlanta, Georgia. He appears as one of the members of the cast in the ABC network's legal drama television series Boston Legal. Before he moved to Los Angeles, California in 1998, he was already involved in the performing arts in Atlanta, working in multiple platforms such as comedy, television and theater. Williams has been involved with the Georgia Shakespeare Festival as well as the improv group Laughing Matters. Among the other television shows he has also had roles in are The Boondocks, Malcolm in the Middle, and The Amanda Show.

Clarence Bell is portrayed by Gary Anthony Williams in the ABC network's television show Boston Legal. He is a male secretary who is introduced during the third season of the show, wherein he sported multiple personalities such as that of a cross-dresser. Bell is befriended by Claire Simms, who tries to help him shed the use of his various personalities and become more socially well-adjusted. He eventually ends up working for Simms as her secretary. His other main multiple personality is “Clarice,” who is a sassy and loudmouthed female, though Bell has also identified himself as Oprah Winfrey and Martin Luther King, Jr.
