Actress Julie Bowen, who currently stars as Attorney Denise Bauer on the drama series, Boston Legal, and husband Scott Phillips welcomed their first child into the world late Tuesday.

Bowen, 37, was on the Boston Legal set and was in the middle of filming when her water broke. Bowen had announced her pregnancy last November (she was already four months pregnant by then), and told People Magazine that she wanted to remain oblivious to the baby’s gender, remarking, “We could know, but I don't want to know. No names yet, nothing.”

In the same interview, Bowen also said that she had asked Project Runway finalist Laura Bennett to make a maternity dress for her. She stated that maternity clothes “definitely is not my favorite thing in the world, because you're stretching around a whole new body. What's up with that? It's like I'm 14 and have to figure out how to dress." Upon learning of her pregnancy, Bowen did not put her acting job on hold, and continued to work while she was pregnant.

Bowen gave birth to a 19-inch long and 6-pound,15-ounce baby boy, who she blessed with the name Oliver McLanahan. Phillips, a real-estate investor, commented on the condition of Bowen and baby Oliver, saying, “Everyone’s fine. Everyone’s healthy,” and that Bowen “is pleased.”

Before Bowen joined the cast of Boston Legal, she appeared as high school English teacher Carol Vessey, on the television series, Ed, for two seasons. It was while Bowen was still on Ed that she got engaged to Phillips. Her additional television credits include ER, Party of Five, Extreme, Three, Strange Luck and Lost. Bowen has also done several big screen projects, including Multiplicity, An American Werewolf in Paris, Joe Somebody, Loving, Sex and Death 101 and Happy Gilmore, where she starred opposite comedian and actor Adam Sandler.
