Yesterday, ION Media Networks, Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement with 20th Century Television to air the hit ABC dramedy,
Boston Legal, on ION Television starting this fall. The agreement falls in line with the company's efforts to provide popular and diverse entertainment.
“
Boston Legal will be to ION Television what Denny Crane is to Crane, Poole & Schmidt – bold, outrageous and positively entertaining,” Brandon Burgess, chairman and CEO of ION Media Networks, said. “Smart writing, with humor and heart, and an all-star cast, including
James Spader,
Candice Bergen and
William Shatner, makes this one of the best shows on television. We are excited to bring
Boston Legal to millions of fans on the ION Television Network starting this Fall.”

For those who are unfamiliar with the show,
Boston Legal follows the professional and personal lives of a group of brilliant but often emotionally-challenged attorneys. Created by David E. Kelley, the series is a spin-off of the equally successful legal drama,
The Practice.
Aside from Spader, Shatner and Bergen, all of whom are recipients of the prestigious Emmy Award, the show also stars
John Larroquette,
Christian Clemenson,
Taraji P. Henson,
Tara Summers,
Saffron Burrows and
Gary Anthony Williams.
Bob Cook, president and COO of 20th Television, had this to say about syndication: “We are excited that ION Television will be sharing with their viewers this Emmy Award-winning program, exemplifying the best in television writing and acting.”
Boston Legal is currently on its fourth season on ABC. Tonight's episode, “Rescue Me,” was the last to be completed before the strike began in November. It follows Andrea (guest star Alison Placa) as she once again secures the services of the law firm and Carl Sack (Larroquette) when she sues a company – that was supposed to make a diamond out of her grandmother's ashes – for misplacing the ashes and giving her a cubic zirconium instead.
Meanwhile, Katie (Summers) develops feelings for an AIDS-infected client who is charged with check forgery, Clarence (Williams) represents a woman who is suing her pastor for causing her to lose her faith after he ends their affair, Whitney (Henson) tries to sue a high school for causing the death of a woman whose heavy workload led to sleep deprivation and Denny and Alan prepare to take the Coast Guard test.
