Boston Legal fans will soon have to bid farewell to the spin-off that follows the personal and professional lives of the lawyers working at Crane, Poole & Schmidt. ABC has already booked the two-hour series finale of the legal dramedy for Monday, December 8.  In the mean time, fans can still enjoy the remaining new episodes of the fifth season, including tonight's “Mad Cows.”

Read on for a preview.

Last week on Boston Legal, Denny (William Shatner) and Alan (James Spader) visited a Dude Ranch in Utah, but found themselves in trouble with their tour group and the local authorities, including Melvin Palmer.  Back in Boston, Shirley (Candice Bergen) defended Catherine Piper (Betty White) after she unintentionally blew up her doctor after setting his office on fire as a form of revenge for prescribing her drugs that gave her a heart attack.

In the seventh episode of Boston Legal's fifth season, Alan and Denny take on the a case that forces them to take legal action against the government when their client, cattle rancher Carol Hober, is not allowed to test all of her cows for Mad Cow disease, an issue that's close to Denny's heart.

Comedy ensues when Denny continually irritates Carol, whom Crane believes is the spitting image of actress Valerie Bertinelli, as he tries to make her admit that she really is Valerie Bertinelli.

Meanwhile, Jerry Espenson (Christian Clemenson) is up for partner at the firm.  However, his peculiar social oddities could lead to his downfall with the firm's panel, which includes Paul Lewiston (Rene Auberjonois).

Joining the cast of Boston Legal on tonight's episode is none other than Valerie Bertinelli, who guest stars as Carol Hober.  She is perhaps best known for her role as Bonnie Franklin's daughter, Barbara Cooper Royer on the long-running television series One Day at a Time.
