Tonight on Boston Legal, the courtroom battles ensue as Alan sues the drug companies after a client asks for his help, given that he has been taking 42 different medications daily.  Katie takes a case involving a young woman who claims that she was raped by a guard when she was sent to a private drug treatment center.  Meanwhile, Carl works on a case with Shirley’s granddaughter.

In other Boston Legal news, EW reports that Julie Bowen will be coming back to Crane, Poole & Schmidt some time in November.  Bowen made her last pre-hiatus appearance in May 2007, when she decided to take the time off to be a full time mom.  She comes back in season 5’s tenth episode.

Bowen plays Denise Bauer, who viewers last saw marrying Brad Chase (Mark Valley, now on Fringe) after delivering a baby,  Bowen recently completed a recurring guest role on Weeds and guest starred in last week's season premiere of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

Additionally, TV Guide reports that Valerie Bertinelli will be having a guest spot on the same episode in which Bowen returns.  Hollyscoop reports that series creator David E. Kelley wrote the part especially for her.  She will be the face of a cattle rancher dealing with mad cow disease.

Bertinelli, who previously appeared in One Day at a Time and Touched by an Angel, was recently cast as the lead in the TNT sitcom following the release of her memoir Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time.
