Some weeks after the finale non-sex on the procedural Bones (and more than a week after the announcement of the two-year renewal), there is still talk and debate among Bones fans on the much-hyped about finale and the eve more much-hyped about Bones-Booth romp - primarily because while Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) got busy, none of it seemed to matter in the overall storyline (or does it?) since it's either Brennan's new book or Booth's coma-induced hallucinations, or both. It's safe to say, however, that some Bones fans were disappointed.

"It probably strengthened our friendship, even though this kind of thing can probably ruin a friendship," Deschanel said in an interview prior to the finale.  "Honestly, he was such a sweet guy. He was more supportive and concerned for me before we started filming than I would be. He had meetings about it. He's like, "I don't want anyone around." He practically kicked out everyone -- even the people who had to be there filming! And it's a fairly tame scene. He was so protective of me; it was very sweet, actually. He wanted to make sure I felt comfortable. Of course, he also made jokes."

Deschanel, 32 who has played the titular character for the past four seasons, said the sex "definitely changes the dynamic between the characters."

"[Series creator] Hart Hanson wrote the episode in a way that gets these two characters together - which a lot of the audience was waiting for - but doesn't dissipate the sexual tension between them and, therefore, ruin the show."

At least that part is true, as there remains the wait for the two to do the deed and consummate their relationship in the real world.  The fifth season of Bones is set to start in September, and then we'd see if it's going to happen - for real this time.
