Unlike most forensic procedurals,
Bones focuses more on the relationship between living people than its dead bodies. This, according to lead actor
David Boreanaz, is one of the reasons why the show has stayed fresh for many years.
“For me, I've always maintained that the show is about the relation. It's about the characters, about the two of us [Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan] learning through solving a crime," said Boreanaz, who isn't really fond of serial killer storylines.
According to Boreanaz, who plays Special Agent Seeley Booth on the series, the coming episodes of
Bones will focus on his character's past, his family background and upbringing and possibly, the romantic complications involving Booth and Brennan (
Emily Deschanel), following their kiss in the Christmas episode.
So far,
Bones has shifted its TV schedule three times in its three-season run but that doesn't seem to bother Boreanaz, who remains confident that the show will thrive no matter what timeslot it may land.
"It's always difficult to say how these things will work out," he said. "We did better before
Idol than we did after Idol. I don't think anyone could have anticipated that. I don't tell people where the show should be placed... that's not my job. My job as an actor is to come in and portray a character and do the best that I can. I can't get caught up in what time slot it's in, or where they're moving it to, or what it's paired with. I do know that it's a quality show, and the best on television as far as a relationship show is concerned. With these new episodes, I think you'll see the relationship just take off."
Fans can catch a new episode of
Bones, which also stars
Michaela Conlin,
Eric Millegan,
T. J. Thyne and
Tamara Taylor, every Monday at 8/7c on FOX.
