Don't worry. Not all that much has changed. Think of the new Bones main title sequence as being like Bones itself in season 8 -- obviously there are some changes, but everything we love returns.

First things first, check out the new Bones season 8 main title video here.

What differences will there be in the Bones opening in the new season?

Obviously the music counts as a big difference. This is a remixed version of the old Bones theme, recorded by Crystal Method. TVLine quotes Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan on the subject: "While we usually make changes and update the shots in the main title sequence, this is the first year we've updated the music. Crystal Method did a brilliant job remixing their title song. It retains what we love, but is a fresh and current new take on what we expect."

Speaking of updated shots, these are the changes we could catch (let us know in the comments if there are more!)

  • We get some major action from Booth as overlaid shots show the man running from explosions and firing a gun.
  • Michaela Conlin gets happy and ponders a yucky skull, Hamlet-style.
  • Tamara Taylor briefly looks authoritative and then drains some goo.
  • We get a lot of close-up head shots of TJ Thyne.
  • Considering that his little bit starts with gunfire, I think it's safe to say that Bones is working to make John Francis Daley's character of Sweets a little more badass.
  • Happy family with baby pictures!
  • Brennan still looks at X-rays, but now she's saucy at the same time.

For those of you out there who like things to stay the same, at least the title sequence ends with those same two final images -- Brennan looks at bones alone at a light table, then Booth and Brennan walk past the skeleton vaults together.

Bones season 8 premieres on Monday, September 17 at 8pm on FOX.
