fans. TVLine reports
that the long running series has been renewed for season 12. Unfortunately season 12 will also be the final season. Season 12 will consist of 12 episodes and will be the last episodes of Bones
ever. FOX and Bones
showrunners do promise with the announcement that the finale will be satisfying and give proper closure to the series.
The executive producers co-showrunners of Bones Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson issued a statement about the series end. "We couldn't be more thrilled to have another season, so we can give the show, characters and fans the end they so richly deserve." They go on to say that knowing they will have season 12 it means that will be able to craft a season 11 finale that is "rewarding" and leaves fan excited for the future.
TVLine reports that
, David Boreanaz, star of Bones
, also issued a statement saying, "This is for the fans! Thank you to everyone at Fox and of course [network co-chairmen] Dana [Walden] and Gary [Newman] -- for all your support," Boreanaz said in a statment. "Thank you to Hart [Hanson], Stephen [Nathan], Ian [Toynton], Michael [Peterson] and Jonathan [Collier]. Also to the crew and cast for their countless support along the way! And I couldn't have done it without you, Emily!"
Emily Deschanel also issued her cheery support of the announcement, proud and happy that fans will get the ending they deserve. "I am thrilled the show will have the ending it deserves for all of our amazing, loyal fans!"
But what do you think? Is the announcement that Bones will have a "proper" finale soften the blow of the cancellation? Did you see the writing on the wall or are you shocked that Bones is coming to end next season? What is your dream scenario for how Bones will end?
