The Basics of the Bones Season 8 Premiere

We got a chance to preview "The Future in the Past," and here is what you need to know about this episode:

Three months have passed since Brennan ran away with Christine in order to avoid being framed for murder by Christopher Pelant. Only her father knows where she is. Booth, unfortunately, does not.

If any of this seems surprising or unfamiliar, you should definitely go back and re-watch the Bones season 7 finale. There are definitely a lot of plot points that will be continuing into season 8.

But enough with the generalities. You came here to read more specific spoilers about what is coming in "The Future in the Past." So here you go!

8 Things to Know About the Bones Season 8 Premiere

1. Despite Pelant's best efforts, all of the scientists at the Jeffersonian have managed to hang on to their jobs. Despite the Jeffersonian's best efforts, Christopher Pelant still roams free.

2. The first scene in "The Future in the Past" is strongly reminiscent of The Sound of Music's beginning. Except for the singing part.

3. Brennan has been in communication with one of her old friends. Flowers are involved in this.

4. Do you remember that super squintern Clark Edison has a PhD already and is, in some ways, more of a colleague to Dr. Brennan than an underling? That fact is important for the continued functioning of the Jeffersonian.

5. Two different people, over the course of the premiere episode, make specific and believable threats about killing Christopher Pelant. Booth is not one of these people.

6. There is a scene in which several people are tipsy, possibly drunk.

7. Binders are very important to the new crime-solving process at the Jeffersonian. Not everyone is OK with this.

8. You will never, not in a million years, guess the ending of "The Future in the Past." Never.
