Spoiler Alert: 'Boardwalk Empire' Spoilers
Boardwalk Empire is a show that prides itself with meticulous storytelling, slow build and complex characters. Plot is not always as important as mood, character exchanges and general theme. But there have been a few rumors floating around about possible developments for this season that are well worth mentioning. Possible Boardwalk Empire spoilers ahead!

Boardwalk Empire is available on Amazon Prime.

Nucky's Wife

In one of the season 1 episodes, we saw a picture of Nucky's (Steve Buscemi) dead wife. The actress shown in the photo was Molly Parker of Deadwood fame. This fact alone should be enough to speculate that she might turn up somehow in the show. But a few months back, Parker teased the public, reminding us that dead never really means dead on TV.

"I was hired to play a role, and that is a role that comes up later" she told TV Guide. What does "later" mean? And how will she figure in the show? We haven't had ghosts or flashbacks or walking dead yet, but that doesn't mean that Boardwalk Empire couldn't break its mold and suddenly tell a story from Nucky's surely interesting past when his deceased wife was still alive. She could appear to him in dreams at night, or as daydreams, or simply as apparitions signaling that his mental well-being might be in jeopardy. Or Molly Parker might have simply spoken too soon.

Maybe all we'll ever get to see from her is this one picture. Although I have to say that that seems like the most unlikely scenario to me.

I Love Lucy?

Lucy Danzinger is pregnant, but, as Paz De La Huerta reminds us, "she was very lost in her relationship with Nucky." She continues: "Audiences are going to see more of the real her. It's going to be very different."

How might we understand this? Will Nucky's relationship with Lucy come back to haunt him, maybe in the gestalt of Van Alden who is out to get Nucky and has now impregnated Lucy? Or will she have a feministic awakening comparable to Mad Men's Peggy, the other successful show created by a The Sopranos alumn?

Whatever the case might be, we can expect to see a lot more of Lucy than we have so far in the season. And as it stands now, that can only mean trouble for Nucky.

So what do you think of these Boardwalk Empire spoilers? Will they make for a tantalizing new season? Sound off in the comments!
