Blood Ties . A younger cop with only six months on the job, she still proves herself as equally skilled as Mike and Vicki, and aims to be a higher-ranking detective. She finds herself growing attracted to Mike despite how he continues to hold a torch for Vicki, though Kate still tries to give him good advice and be there for him as a shoulder to lean on. The two female detectives are opposites in a number of aspects – sarcastic Vicki versus straightforward Kate, and Kate's softer demeanor versus Vicki's hard-boiled edge.
