Big Shots is not looking good. The ABC man drama, the
Sex and the City clone, is having a hell of a time in the ratings. On the surface, the numbers may not seem too terrible. However, once you delve deep into what
Big Shots did last night, things get ugly fast.
Big Shots averaged around 10 million viewers, but from half-hour to half-hour the show lost an astonishing three million viewers. That means people were watching, gave the show a chance, and were then so disgusted that they had to turn their TV off. Of course, any show in the 10pm hour is going to lose viewers to sleep and whatnot, but losing almost a third of your audience does not bode well for your future. I watched the pilot of
Big Shots (or tried to), and did the same thing: I stopped watching after a half hour. Besides that, the usual Thursday things went down last night.
CSI, Grey's Anatomy, etcetera, etcetera.
Highest Rated Show of the Night: CSI – 19.6 million viewers
8pm Time Slot Winner: Survivor – 14 million viewers
9pm Time Slot Winner: CSI
10pm Time Slot Winner: Without a Trace – 13.6 million viewers
It looks like a dominant night from CBS, does it not? CBS did well, yes, but the key demographics tell a different story. At 9pm,
Grey's Anatomy fell just short in total viewers with 18.6 million viewers, but smashed
CSI in all of the key demographics (which basically means that a lot of older people watch
CSI, older people who don't buy much in the way of consumer goods).
The Office jumped up a bit from last week finishing with about 9 million.
Supernatural keeps on truckin', receiving 3.2 million.
At 8pm,
Ugly Betty finished second with a 10.3 million person audience.
Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader pulled in third, followed by NBC's comedy duo of
My Name is Earl (7.7 million) and
30 Rock (6.6 million).
Smallville continues to be one of CW's top performers with an audience of 4.7 million.
Big Shots had a 9.2 million person audience at 10pm, but had that huge drop-off in the middle.
ER finished third with 8.4 million viewers.
