Michael Vartan was born on November 27, 1968 in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, France to Eddie Vartan, a musician, and Doris, a painter and artist. In his youth, he moved from France to the United States and back to live with his parents who divorced when he was five. When he was eighteen, he settled in Los Angeles with his mother, and expressed his desire to be an artist, avoiding the mandatory military service required in France. After many minor film roles, Vartan finally got noticed on films such as
Never Been Kissed (1999),
One Hour Photo (2002) and
Monster-in-Law (2005). His most notable role, however, is Michael Vaughn in the television series
