Michael Vartan,
Dylan McDermott,
Joshua Malina and
Christopher Titus play dysfunctional executives who are the best of buddies on the new ABC series,
Big Shots. It would have been a challenge to create the on-screen camaraderie their characters are supposed to share if the actors themselves didn't get on in a fashion. Fortunately for the freshman show, that is not a problem they have to tackle.
Off-screen, the four experienced actors actually do share a good chemistry that is not lacking in good-natured fun and humor.
"We all agreed that Dylan is Fonzie," Titus told the Deseret Morning News. "And then Vartan is Richie Cunningham because [his character is] the moral center. And then we had an argument over who was Potsie or Ralph Malph. It turns out I'm Ralph Malph. So - not happy about it."
The
Big Shots co-star also spoke about his own personal experience on his new vehicle, comparing it with when he starred in his own self-titled semi-autobiographical sitcom.
“I don't have to be up in the writers' room all the time. I am really enjoying it and working with these guys," the 43-year old actor/comic said, also mentioning that he's "learning a lot."
In particular, Titus jests that he's taking his cue from former
Practice heartthrob Dylan McDermott on how to emulate superstardom.
“I'm learning a lot from Dylan about how to be a superstar. I'm following him around taking notes. I'm not kidding."
Meanwhile, here are some spoilers way in advance for
Big Shots' episode on November 1. The installment entitled “Car Trouble” finds McDermott's character, Duncan, pulling out all the stops just to win back his ex-wife Lisbeth (
Paige Turco), after he learns that she has begun dating Terrence Hill (Paul Blackthorne) exclusively. Duncan's current wife, Cameron (
Peyton List) is having conflicting emotions of her own as she finds herself drawn to a new co-worker.
Vartan's James struggles with his growing attraction to the anchorwoman of a television business program who tears into his performance as an AmeriMart executive. Karl's (Joshua Malina) wife, Wendy (
Amy Sloan) is desperate to have a baby at all costs and Karl is concerned that she may be in for another big letdown as with their past failed attempts.
