'Big Shots' Star Dylan McDermott Flying Solo after Parting Ways with Wife of 12 Years

On ABC's new series,
Big Shots, which debuted last Thursday, former
Practice star,
Dylan McDermott, plays a newly divorced corporate executive. Nowadays, the actor may be experiencing a case of life imitating art, as his 12-year marriage to actress Shiva Rose appears headed towards splitsville.
The 44-year old McDermott and the 38-year old Rose wed on November 19, 1995 and have two daughters, 11-year old Collette and two-year old Charlotte. McDermott's representative confirmed to
People last Thursday that the pair have decided to call it quits.
Back in 2001, McDermott, who rose to fame as Bobby Donnell on
The Practice, spoke fondly about his wife and how easy it was for him to fall in love with her, during an interview with renowned television journalist, Diane Sawyer.
"I was in love with her right away," McDermott told Sawyer back then. "For her, it was a little longer, you know, a couple of years. But for me, it was right away."
For her part, Shiva Rose, who is of French-Iranian descent, was initially resistant to the notion of dating a celebrity.
"I thought, 'Oh God, a handsome actor - I don't want anything to do with him!'" the actress told
People. "But then he opened his mouth, and he was very poetic and eloquent, and he had a brain behind those beautiful blue eyes."
Back in July, Rose shared her mixed sentiments about McDermott's return to regular television work via his new series,
Big Shots.
“It'll be bittersweet, because he won't be around,” Rose remarked during the TMG International Style L.A. fashion show.
In related news, Shiva Rose was out and about, hobnobbing with big-name
Desperate Housewives cast members mere hours after the announcement of the separation. McDermott's newly estranged wife attended a private dinner soiree at the Los Angeles home of
Desperate Housewives'
Kyle MacLachlan and his wife, Desiree Gruber, executive producer on
Project Runway.
The special gathering was held for the benefit of ovarian cancer research and featured Stuart Weitzman's online celebrity auction. Among the 30 or so attendees were MacLachlan's
Desperate Housewives co-stars,
Eva Longoria,
Marcia Cross, Dana Delaney and
James Denton.
