"I remember when Ginnifer came into the office to meet me for the first time--this was way before
Mona Lisa Smile--and she just had that A-list quality,"
Vanity Fair west coast editor Krista Smith, who co-hosted the luncheon alongside Women in Film's president Jane Fleming, commented. "Her sincerity makes her stand out, plus, she just looks like youth! It was obvious to me that she was going to go all of the way."
As the guests were taking pleasure of the mouthwatering banquet, Fleming rallied support for her non-profit organization.
"As women in this industry, we need to support each other and continue to make progress in the creative arts. We're here to watch female stars like Ginnifer shine. And Ginnifer, if you ever need anything down the road, you better call us!"
In turn, Goodwin charmed the crowd by her acceptance speech.
"There's nothing more humbling than having folks who you respect so much tell you to keep doing what you love," said Goodwin, who is currently filming season three of
Big Love. "I'm turning 30 in two weeks, and I'm honored to have had the roles I've had so far. I can only hope that when I'm fifty, I'll just be picking roles out of a hat, and they will all be brilliant!"
Goodwin first appeared on
Law & Order and
Ed before getting cast in the Comedy Central television movie
Porn 'n Chicken. She later had substantial roles in the films
Mona Lisa Smile,
Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!, and
Walk the Line, in which she played Vivian Liberto, Johnny Cash's first wife. She also played Dori Dumchovic in the dark comedy
Love Comes to the Executioner.
