HBO recently revealed that Emmy-nominated polygamy drama Big Love is set to begin its fourth season early 2010, with its creators revealing that something both "dramatic" and "game-changing" will mark its return. Big Love season 4 started filming this month.

Several running storylines from last season will continue in season 4, including the one involving an Indian casino. This despite the fact that Bill (Bill Paxton) is set to seek political office in Utah. "Let's just say the stakes are life and death and that he sees no other way but to batten down the hatches and dive into the fray," the creators said in an email.

What's clear, however, is that the wives will split on their own separate Big Love season 4 storylines. The wives are really starting to find their own footing, with Ana (Branka Katic) potentially making a return, Nicki's (Chloë Sevigny) teenage daughter Cara Lynn joining the fray, Barb (Jeanne Tripplehorn) dealing with being excommunicated when she refused to renounce polygamy, and Margie's (Ginnifer Goodwin) new jewelry business.

"She's coming into her own in a way that's unprecedented for her character," said the creators of Margie's Big Love season 4 storyline. Sarah (Amanda Seyfried), meanwhile, is said to become "her own woman," while Teenie (Jolean Wejbe) will be like "an entirely different person" thanks to her prolonged stay with Barb's side of the family.

We also previously revealed that creepy prophet Roman Grant is "absolutely dead," refuting suspicion from some Big love fans that he somehow survived the pillow episode in the finale. Big Love creator Will Scheffer, who is also the show's executive producer, confirmed this, adding that "this isn't one of those vampire shows.  Dead is dead on this show."

Catch Big Love season 4 most probably in January next year.
