Marla Lynne Sokoloff is an American movie and television actress born on December 19, 1980 in San Francisco, California. The daughter of a doctor and a former caterer, she was given a Jewish upbringing. She began acting when she was 12 years old, appearing on the television sitcom
Full House . She later on appeared in other television series such as 7th Heaven,
Desperate Housewives , and Party of Five. She has also had roles in a number of feature films, among them Love on the Side, Prairie Dogs, and Dude, Where's My Car? Aside from her acting career, she also enjoys music and owns a large collection of guitars.
Lucy Hatcher is played by Marla Sokoloff in the Emmy Award-winning legal drama series The Practice. She works as the firm's receptionist, and often has a wisecrack or quip ready for her colleagues. She was hired as a replacement for the previous receptionist Rebecca Washington, after Rebecca finishes her night classes at a law school and passes the bar exam, becoming an associate of the firm. Aside from her work as a receptionist, Lucy also works as a counselor for victims of rape.
