Tex's Take: BB8 Week 4 Recap - Who's Going Home?

For a while there I thought I might have to do another column Monday night! These folks have lost their minds! Dick, Daniele and Nick totally went off on Jen, Dustin and Eric cut their hair off, I think Amber was medicated and the beat goes on.

I'm sure everyone has heard about the “Iced Tea Incident” by now, but if not, here's a short recap. Dick was going off on Jen, as usual, but Jen didn't just stand there and smile this time. Dick said something about her values and morals and Jen busts out with her version of pot meet kettle. She said that she wasn't the one with a live-in boyfriend that was engaged to someone else when they first started going out, and she wasn't the one canoodling with a different guy in the house, so what's that he said about morals? Well ... that didn't go over well at all. Dani jumped in and put her two cents in and whined about Jen always being so mean to her ... that it is just SO HARD for her ... blah blah ... typical Dani whine (wow I could hear that whine as I typed that and I shuddered).

Jen was attempting to explain to Daniele that it wasn't her being mean, that she has attempted to be friends, when Dick walked behind her and calmly poured his glass of iced tea on her head. Then Nick proceeded to go off on Jen with language that was totally uncalled for.

Dick is one of those houseguests that has engendered a lot of emotion. Many fans either love him for his in-your-face game play, or hate him for his nastiness. This scene was shown not just on the feeds, but also on Shotoo's Big Brother After Dark. BB message boards and chatrooms all over the net went wild! Would he be shown the door or would BB and CBS ignore the whole thing? Had Dick finally crossed the line or did Jen deserve it for baiting him?

My personal opinion is that, although he went too far, this incident didn't warrant an eviction. I'd have liked to have seen a penalty nomination, however. The Powers That Be always threaten this punishment, but have never delivered. That's like a parent telling their kid that they will get a spanking the next time they break the rules, but it's always next time.

This group seems to think that they can do whatever they want. The rules say no singing and they sing at will. I've heard BB tell certain houseguests to put on or quit obstructing their mics multiple times and in successively stern canned voices, but nothing happens. I saw Kail put her microphone under the bed and continue to talk to Jen and say “oh they know I don't care.” They know they aren't supposed to talk about their Diary Room sessions, but they do it anyway. And nothing happens. So why expect something to happen this time?

Anyway, the night crew apparently called the producer in and after a few hours they finally called Dick to the Diary Room. He was in there for about 30 minutes and when he came out he was smiling and laughing. I guess he got another warning because he has kind of chilled with the Jen bashing, at least for now. The bad thing was that by involving Nick in this, I think he killed any chance of Nick surviving this nomination. There were a few of the Late Night Crew upstairs in the HoH room watching this all unfold on the spycam and none of them were in support of Dick and Crew.

And what of America's Player? I'm still not sure who America has chosen for Eric to vote to evict. Usually he campaigns for that nominee to go, but this time he hasn't at all. I just wonder if America has chosen Kail to be evicted and Eric isn't happy with that choice. I'm obviously not the only one that thinks that. There was a banner that flew over the house questioning his lack of campaigning. He's been very vocal in his desire for Nick to go home.

Which brings me to the question of the day ... who's going home tomorrow? Right now, and I have to put that qualifier in, Nick is going home. The LNC has called a meeting for tonight and Dick and Daniele are going to try to sway the vote. I guess we'll find out tomorrow night how successful they are. Until then, see y'all in the forums!
