The last competition before finale night of Big Brother 17 is over. The Final 3 have finished the first two parts of the three-part final HoH competition, so now it’s just a matter of waiting to see who wins part 3 on finale night, who they take to the end and who wins the half-million dollar grand prize.

Vanessa won Part 1.

Steve won Part 2 of the Final HoH!

It was a timed competition where Steve and Liz had to climb something and use letters to fill in a crossword puzzle with questions like who’s clip was shown fourth in the “What the Bleep?” HoH competition or more generic ones like “Male Houseguest.” Steve finished in about 28 minutes while Liz took 31.

Now we have an exciting finale. Vanessa and Steve have been working together since week 2 as the secret two-person alliance the Students of Sound. After the competition, Steve and Vanessa were both telling each other that they’re in the finals and seem to be acting like they’ll take each other to the end. They even talked about sitting down with Liz and telling her that they’re going to take each other to the end and she will be evicted in third place no matter what, but I’m not so sure.

Steve is really playing it up with Vanessa, saying he’ll go along with whatever she wants to do regarding telling Liz about their deal. But in the past week, Steve has said to himself several times that he would take Liz to Final 2 and evict Vanessa if he wins the last HoH while Vanessa has been spending a lot of time with Liz and promised to take her to Final 2.

Both Vanessa and Steve are smart enough to know that, while Liz does have two guaranteed votes in the jury house with Austin and Julia, she didn’t really do that much and just got dragged to the end by Vanessa and Austin, who did all of her strategic thinking for her.

This means the pressure is on for finale night. Whoever wins the final HoH should take Liz to the end and probably win the game by doing it. Steve would get major points from the jury for taking out Vanessa, though Vanessa might be facing more of an uphill battle since Austin is actively trying to destroy her with the jury.

However, if they’re being genuine with each other, it would be the most interesting outcome. Would it be a Derrick/Cody situation, where the jury sees Vanessa as the puppet master and Steve as her puppet, or an Ian/Dan situation where the superfan beats out the hated mastermind?
