The second week of Big Brother 16
has been full of more fireworks and scheming than ever before. Devin
becoming HoH caused a lot of drama boiling beneath the surface, but
things changed dramatically early Saturday morning. Now that the Power
of Veto competition is over, what does the rest of the week have in
store for the HGs?SPOILER WARNING: This article contains Big Brother 16 spoilers.
HoH Devin nominated Brittany and Paola
. HoH Amber nominated Hayden and Nicole. Hayden and Nicole won the Battle of the Block
. Amber, Derrick and Zach were picked to play in the PoV with Devin, Brittany and Paola.Devin won the Power of Veto!
And the male domination of season 16 continues. Women have only won one of the six HoH and PoV competitions so far, and that's only because the first part of the week 2 HoH was just between the female HGs. It also makes Devin the first person to win two competitions this season and he's the 21st person in the show's history to win HoH and PoV in the same week. All of the 20 other people to do it finished in the Top 8.
Now we have to see if Devin is a man of his word. He told Pow-Pow that, if he won, he'd save her and Victoria would be put up as a replacement nominee. He has also told the Bomb Squad, even after his fight with Caleb, that Victoria would be the replacement.
However, once the live feeds came back, he was wavering on whether to keep his word (this despite his vow to play an honest game). He's even considering using it to save Brittany to try and mend fences since his alliance wants her to stay safe this week anyway. He even told Brittany about his deal to have Pow-Pow throw the Battle of the Block.
If Victoria gets nominated, she would probably go home. Zach has been talking about how much he hates her a lot and there's a general consensus to try and keep Brittany. The next two days of the live feeds will be important to see if Devin uses the Veto and who he uses it on. Whatever happens, it's nearly certain that the second HG going home will be Brittany, Pow-Pow or Victoria.UPDATE
: After their very lengthy conversation, Devin has apparently struck a deal with Brittany and has promised that he will use the Power of Veto to save her, putting up Victoria and hoping Victoria goes home. The deal is for them to move past this and not target each other in the future, bonding over the fact that they are both parents. Brittany, true to their deal, is NOT telling other people about this.UPDATE #2 (Sunday, noon)
: Things got even more hectic over the night, especially with the highly erratic Zach (who didn't sleep at all). He's been going a little nuts, wanting to blow up at Devin and call him out. He's really frustrated and that hasn't gone unnoticed by Devin. In fact, Devin is now considering using the PoV to nominate Zach, destroying the Bomb Squad. It seems Devin now wants the alliance to get rid of Zach, Cody and Derrick, leaving Devin, Caleb, Amber, Frankie and Christine. Zach has seemingly self-imploded. Just when I think I have a handle on the gameplay this season, people make incredibly weird and illogical decisions. The Bomb Squad DivisionsEarly Saturday morning
Caleb got into a fight with Devin and the result unified the house
against Devin and essentially ousted him from the Bomb Squad. Things
have calmed down and, right before the PoV competition, Devin called a
meeting of the entire Bomb Squad in his HoH room to hash out their
differences. It got broken up before it concluded, so it's unclear if it
salvaged the alliance or if Devin is still next week's target.
With the implosion of Devin, the Bomb Squad has scrambled to reconfigure the alliances in new permutations. Zach, Cody and Derrick seem solid, eager to turn on Devin, Caleb and Amber by bringing in Christine, Brittany, Jocasta and Donny. However, Frankie is continuing to play all sides, talking to Christine about maybe teaming up with Caleb and Amber (and/or Hayden and Nicole) to eventually go against Zach, Cody and Derrick down the road.
The bad news for Frankie is that Christine then told Cody about this and Cody shared it with Zach and Derrick, making them trust Christine and sketchy about Frankie. His Andy Herren-style gameplay of befriending everyone and always sucking up to whoever is the HoH is catching up with him.
Things are constantly shifting around almost every hour and it's hard to know where their true loyalties lie. And there's a lot of time for things to get mended in the Bomb Squad or for things to blow up again. If Devin's gameplay thus far is any indication, I doubt things will be good. The Have-Nots
In addition, HoH Devin got to pick four Have-Nots for the week. He chose Brittany, Victoria, Zach and Derrick (the latter two volunteered to try and keep the peace). In addition to Slop, they can eat bok choy, liverwurst and tomato paste. This is the second week in a row for Brittany. Other former HGs who were Have-Nots for the first two weeks were Cassi and Shelly in season 13, Shane and Ian in season 14 and Andy, Elissa and Helen in season 15. That's not bad company to keep, since five of those seven made it to the Final 6 and Andy and Ian are the last two winners.(Image courtesy of CBS)
