Contestants on a reality TV show can hook up for one of two reasons. Either they are genuinely attracted to each other or they are shrewdly doing it to benefit their game. Big Brother 14 has seen several fauxmances, like the awkward, chaste Shane and Danielle kisses or the Big Bang Theory-esque Ian and Ashley.

But now there's an actual showmance full of legitimate making out.

Late Tuesday night, Frank and Ashley made out in the HoH room.

This hook-up came about after Ashley fake broke up with Ian and agreed to go on a fake date with Frank. Yes, this season is so boring that the HGs have resorted to fake, scripted drama.

What wasn't fake, however, was the exploration of each others' mouths Frank and Ashley did. We already saw her kiss Ian and make out with Boogie during Wil's birthday game of Spin the Bottle.

It's hard to think this is real because it's so obviously strategic for both parties. Frank is getting another ally to help prepare for the inevitable time when he has to go to war with the Silent Six and Ashley is desperately looking for allies since she knows Wil is going to be evicted this week.

The strategy was on display as Frank asked Ashley during their date who she would nominate if she won HoH. She initially said Shane and Ian, but Frank got her to take back Ian, suggesting that she should put up two people she wants out, ideally a pair. In other words, it sounded a lot like Frank was encouraging Ashley to nominate Shane and Britney.

Perhaps if this were anything more than a strategic ploy it might seem more interesting to me, but as it is, Frank and Ashley's showmance is just kind of ridiculous. Before the date, Frank was actually talking to Boogie and Dan about the possibility of creating a showmance. Much like the date itself, the whole thing feels scripted and staged.

So, to use one potential couple nickname: Frankley, my dear, I don't give a damn.
