'Big Brother 10' Casting is Finished
The casting for Big Brother 10, which premieres on CBS July 13, has been completed.  On her MySpace page, Big Brother casting director Robyn Kass announced that the final list of houseguests has been agreed upon and the finalists had all been notified by CBS.  Meaning, if you had auditioned for Big Brother 10 and haven't heard anything by now then you're out of luck.  Sorry, there's always next year.  Now that casting is finished (though the general public won't know the identities of the houseguests until July), there are a few things us fans need to remember.  Last season, there were all sorts of dubious claims by people who said they would be in the Big Brother 9 house.  They were all eventually shown to be full of crap.  The actual finalists are most likely on a gag order, the breaking of which would probably bring their position as a houseguest into question.  Don't believe the yahoos on the internet – they are full of lies.

Since there's not much more in the way of news here, let's discuss what we hope CBS learned from the past couple seasons of Big Brother casting.

Older House Guests Make Good TV

Evel Dick and Sheila, whether you liked them or not, made good TV.  Despite being far and away the oldest houseguests in their respective seasons, they advanced far in the game (Dick won Big Brother 8).  It'd be cool if Big Brother 10 featured more than just the one token older contestant.

Young and Dumb People are Awful

Amber and Natalie should not have received hours of screen time on national television.  Their idiocy was difficult to watch on a regular basis and, often, just depressing.  Dumb people are more apt to cause a ruckus on television, but there are levels of dumb, and you can find bearably dumb people who won't melt the collective brains of America.  I don't know what I'll do if they cast another Natalie.

Dudes with Muscles are Overrated

Alex and Mike are two that come to mind over the last couple seasons.  Big Brother obviously cares a lot about physical appearance when casting, but simply casting big dudes isn't enough.  We've seen it over and over again with these big dudes – they have no personality and make for boring television.  Personality is the most important thing – aesthetics should be a bonus.
