Former
Beverly Hills 90210 actress, Tori Spelling, proudly announced last week that she has been ordained as a minister. Her ordination took place online, after which she received her official certificate in the mail.
'Yep, that's right. ... Reverend Tori Spelling!... I’m so proud!” Spelling said on the Myspace site that she shares with husband, Dean McDermott.
The 34-year-old actress, who is known most for her portrayal of Donna Martin on
Beverly Hills 90210, officiated a same-sex union two weeks ago at Chateau La Rue, the bed-and-breakfast that she and McDermott operate in Fallbrook, California. The establishment is featured on the couple’s reality series,
Tori & Dean: Inn Love, which airs on the Oxygen Network every Tuesday night. The show’s second season is set to premiere on August 14.
'I was so honored when the couple asked me to officiate,” Tori Spelling said in their MySpace site. “We did it on the front steps of the Chateau as 40 of their friends looked on seated in a loungelike atmosphere.
“It was so beautiful as I united Tony and Dex as life partners in love. They wrote their own beautiful vows and there was so much love surrounding them that there wasn't a dry eye in the driveway!” she continued.
Spelling also admitted that she felt nervous about leading the ceremony, saying that the experience was, by far, the “scariest moment” in her life simply because she did not want to disappoint the couple.
“They had bestowed such an honor upon me and I didn't want to let them down,” the actress said.
At the wedding reception, Spelling and McDermott, who were married last May, took their 4-month-old son, Liam, out on the dance floor.
'The three of us swayed and smiled to Madonna,” the
Beverly Hills 90210 star said. “It was a magical evening of pure love.”
