American actress and television director Shannon Doherty was born on April 12, 1971 in Memphis, Tennessee. She immediately decided on a career in acting when her family moved to Los Angeles when she was seven years old. She gained success at an early age, earning guest spots on television series like Voyagers!, Father Murphy, and Airwolf.

Shannon Doherty got her big break as a regular character in the popular Little House on the Prairie, playing the young Jenny Wilder. She was next given a role in Our House, which ran from 1986 to 1988. Her first motion picture role was in Heathers with Winona Ryder in 1989. Doherty was next cast as Brenda Walsh in Aaron Spelling’s long-running series Beverly Hills 90210, a role she took on for four years. When she left the series, her career became marked by numerous made-for-TV movies. One of the highlights of that time was her performance in Kevin Smith’s 1995 film Mallrats. Three years later, she landed her most well-known role, playing Prue Halliwell in the television series Charmed. She was also a regular on the failed series North Shore, and has hosted the first season of the Sci-Fi Channel’s candid camera show Scare Tactics. She has also starred in the popular British sitcom Bo! in the USA as herself. Her film credits include Almost Dead, The Rendering, Striking Poses and Nowhere. In 2007, she appeared in the television movie Christmas Caper for ABC Family, and was also in Love, Inc.
