Born Jillian Fletcher on September 6, 1980 in Ashland, Kentucky, Jillian began wrestling in the independent circuit in 1998, with the name Macaela Mercedes. She worked with the short-lived promotion, GLORY, and later signed a developmental deal with Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in March 2004. A year later, she received breast implants and turned heel with a storyline about her implants getting leaked into her brain and thus causing her to become psychotic. She briefly worked with Melissa Coates as a manager for Chad and Tank Toland until she left to become part of WWE.
Debuting on WWE on July 2005's Smackdown, Jillian worked under the gimmick of a publicist for the heel stable, MNM. In September's Smackdown, she was asked by John Bradshaw Layfield to become his image consultant, thus she left MNM to focus on her new client. She then fought Stacy Keibler, whom she defeated by cheating.
Jillian then became the target of The Boogeyman, who bit her trademark "blemish" off her face. 2006's Royal Rumble featured Layfield fighting The Boogeyman for Jillian, but he lost, thus The Boogeyman fed Jillian a mouthful of worms. Jillian's next opponent was Kristal Marshall, whom she defeated in the March 2006 edition of Smackdown. However, Kristal later won over Jillian in a Divas Uncovered Match.
In June 2007's WWE Supplemental Draft, Jillian moved from Smackdown to Raw, teaming up with Melina Perez to beat Mickie James and Candice Michelle, whom they defeated for Jillian's debut.
