When
Leticia Cline was chosen to appear on the new season of
Beauty and the Geek, she was nervous and happy at the same time. Nervous because she was a stranger to the show and happy because she knew the contestants end up helping each other through the experience.
“I really hadn't watched the show before, but I like it because it is a self-help show,” Cline told the
Glasgow Daily Times. “The beauties help the geeks and the geeks help the beauties in a way.”
Cline, of course, is one of the nine beauties of the show who will be paired up with one of the nine “geeks.” Each team will have to go through challenges that will test not only their intelligence but also their skills in order to get closer to winning $250,000.
Leticia Cline, a 29-year-old “Extreme Sports Model” living in Orlando, Florida, was invited to audition for Beauty and the Geek season 5 through her MySpace account. She went for the audition, during which she had to make a 10-minute video. She was then interviewed by actor and
Beauty and the Geek producer Ashton Kutcher (
That ‘70s Show) several times, after which she stayed in a hotel in Los Angeles for one week. She then learned that she had been selected to appear as one of the nine girls, and filming promptly began in January.
Leticia Cline's parents, David and Debbie Passmore, were excited to learn of their daughter's inclusion in the show.
“[My mom] was definitely excited and thought it was a good thing for me,” Cline said, adding her parents also felt a bit nervous because entering reality television surely means putting her life on display for everyone to see and scrutinize.
Don't miss the fifth season premiere of
Beauty and the Geek, airing Tuesday, March 11 at 8pm on the CW.
