Mario Muscar, a writer and proud owner of over 25,000 comic book, was eliminated from the third season of
Beauty and the Geek last night, which is bad news for viewers who enjoy decent human beings. Mario and his partner
Nadia were inarguably the most likable and nicest team on the show. It's a shame they've been eliminated.
Thankfully, Mario was kind enough to talk to us at BuddyTV this morning about his experience on
Beauty and the Geek, his relationship with Nadia, and what he's got on tap for the future. Tomorrow, we'll have an interview with his partner, Nadia.
How did you get involved with Beauty and the Geek and end up auditioning? Actually, I didn't audition at all. I was at a comic book convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and they had a casting person there from the show. I'd never seen the show before, so I didn't really know what it was about. I just knew it was Ashton's show, that's about it. So, I thought it was kind of funny that they were at a comic book convention looking for geeks for a reality show.
I started striking up this conversation with a woman, who was a casting person for Beauty and the Geek, and they liked my personality. They were having open auditions the next day in downtown Pittsburgh and they got me a spot and I went, and everything kind of just went forward from there.
What were your expectations going into the show?
I was actually expecting it to be a lot more...these beautiful, dumb girls; typical, like any other show and that the guys would be really huge geeks. But, I was surprised. The guys were really great guys and we could all talk to each other and the girls, you know, the girls were smarter than what you would think. Everyone's stereotypes were thrown out the window.
Did you have any personal goals going into the house? What was your focus?
My focus going in was just to experience it the best I could and have the chance to be with these types of girls who I'd never talked to before.
Did you learn anything significant from your experience?
I'd never thought highly of the stereotypical blonde bombshell, the "stupid" girl, but I learned that they have a lot to offer. They really do. They're people, just like us.
What was it like having Nadia as a partner?
It was great. If they would've said to me, after the first week, that we could change partners and I could pick whoever I wanted, I wouldn't change. I really thought that I got the best possible girl that was in that house.
Was there anything that happened while filming that got edited out, but you wish the audience could've seen?
I wish they'd have seen more of the guy's interactions. Just the guys hanging out; we had a good time. We did a lot of fun stuff, goofy stuff, and there were nights where we were, like, running around the pool, on skateboards laying on our bellies, riding on them. Just a lot of interesting stuff that I wish the audience could have seen.
Do you still talk to or hang out with anyone from the show?
I was out with Scooter last night. I talk to Nadia every couple of days and I talk to Nate and Piao. I talk to a lot of the guys.
Who are you rooting for out of the remaining teams?
That's hard to say. There's guys I'm rooting for, but not necessarily girls. (Pause) I'm rooting for the guys. How about that?
Fair Enough. What are your plans for the future, Mario? What do you have on tap?
Just going to keep doing some writing. Hopefully, I'll be getting some kind of writing deal, whether that be comics or freelance or whatever.
Thanks, Mario.
We'll be back tomorrow for an interview with Mario's partner, Nadia.
