The inclusion of Sam and Nicole on
Beauty and the Geek 5 was a source of controversy among some fans of that show. The male Beauty in their partnership,
Sam Horrigan, had previous credentials as an actor on some other shows and this caused some viewers to wonder what the real story was. Was he yet another actor looking to grab some more screen time by appearing as himself on a reality show, or a working actor playing a character of “Sam Horrigan”? That question wasn't answered to the satisfaction of many audience members, his status even cast doubt on the legitimacy of his partner,
Nicole Morgan, and they ultimately didn't walk away with the prize.
Since then, the two have gone their separate ways, and checking in on what they're both up to is to visit the two very different worlds of Beauties and Geeks.
Sam is back to the party circuit in Hollywood. He'll be appearing at Vice in Hollywood for Mardi Gras on February 5. Then the
Beauty and the Geek alum will be heading to
Las Vegas for three days in support of
Laguna Beach Jean Company, a high-end denim company that seeks to bring “OC style to high fashion,” and in addition to Sam, counts Bai Ling, Bobby Trendy and the cast of
Sunset Tan as fans.
Nicole, on the other hand, is back at Tufts and seems to be back to at least attempt to concentrate on her studies. She admits that the fallout from her time on
Beauty and the Geek is somewhat distracting her from her thesis.
She writes about running into another reality star at a gym near the Tufts campus; from her description, it sounds like possibly
Tyler Duckworth from
The Real World fame. Nicole comments that she felt like her
Beauty and the Geek status wasn't quite at
The Real World level, which, she notes, “might be the upper-echelon of reality shows.” Some viewers has doubted Nicole's status as a true “Geek” but it would appear she hadn't quite gone Hollywood yet.
