On Tuesday night,
Amber became the first beauty to be eliminated from season 5 of
Beauty and the Geek. Contrary to the premise of the show, she left the mansion completely unchanged. She didn't learn a thing during her time on
Beauty and the Geek (her words, not mine). I wanted to get an interview with her after her elimination, but unfortunately, Amber was unavailable for comment. Frankly, I'm disappointed because I was looking forward to talking to her, if for nothing else than to ask her what really sparked that huge fight she had with fellow beauty
Randi.
Who is Amber? What's going on inside her head? This being the Age of the Internets, we can actually do some sleuthing ourselves to find out the answers to these questions. Here's what she wrote about herself on her MySpace page.
MY NAME IS AMBER, I AM FROM HOUSTON TEXAS, NOW LIVING IN CALIFORNIA. I HAVE BEEN MODELING FOR ABOUT 5 YRS. I'VE DONE THINGS LIKE VICTORIA SECRETS, ACADEMY, RAYBAN SUNGLASSES CAMPAIGN, BMM MAGAZINE, AND COUNTLESS ADS OVERSEES, AND THE MOST RECENT IS A TELEVISION SHOW BY THE NAME BEAUTY AND THE GEEK WHICH AIRS MARCH 11, 08.
Sweetie, I think you hit caps lock by accident.
In her final post-elimination interview, Amber said listlessly that she'd be okay with it if
Tommy wants to see her after the show is over, but she really isn't looking for a relationship. (This, after freely admitting to the other girls that she was only playing him in a blatant attempt to avoid the elimination room.) Curiously, her MySpace page lists her as "in a relationship," and, incidentally, so does Tommy's. And, Amber's photo gallery also has a folder dedicated to pictures of her and Tommy together. Coincidence? I guess I'll have to ask Tommy when I interview him.
I'm actually a little bit sad to see Amber go. Sometimes, a good villain is what makes a reality show interesting. But after mulling over Amber's two-week stint on
Beauty and the Geek, I've come to the conclusion that she wasn't really a villain at all. Sure, it was not her most shining moment when she complained that
Leticia was slutting up to the geeks to get on their good sides after admitting to doing the same with Tommy, but she never really bullied anyone or schemed to get someone else kicked out. She was just really self-absorbed, but haven't we all been that way at some point in our lives? Amber is so confident in herself that she doesn't feel the need for any self-improvement. She's cool with the fact that she's a bitch. More power to her.
Do you think Amber was a villain?
