Beauty and the Geek

On Tuesday, I presented you with my preseason ranked list of all the geeks on season 5 of Beauty and the Geek, and today I will do the same for the beauties. Just as it was difficult making judgments on the geeks based on a handful of words and a photo, it's actually even more difficult doing so for the beauties because they all seem so similar on paper. How many different kinds of models can there be, anyway? However, never fear, I have done all the hard work for you and have carefully pored through all the details that have been made public about these beauties in order to rank them.

9. Jillian, Playboy bunny

The reason why Jillian is ranked last among all the beauties is because of her rather vacant expression in her press photo. There really isn't a whole lot else to go on.


8. Kristina, daddy's girl

The combination of Kristina's chosen description and her photo lead me to think that she can be the bratty and spoiled type. In order to succeed on this show, one must be open-minded and willing to learn. If she really is the spoiled princess type, then she'll have a hard time going through the transformation process. Of course, there has been a precedent set in which a spoiled girl went on to win the whole competition, and then continued being spoiled on a much trashier reality show. Ahem!Megan Hauserman!Ahem!


7. Amanda, Hawaiian Tropic model

Amanda's appearance reminds me of Jennifer Carter from last season, who was a great person and a great competitor, but who had a hard time communicating with her partner. Hopefully, Amanda will not have the same problem, but if she does, she'll be unlikely to win.


6. Tara, Hooters hostess

Tara looks like a very friendly, outgoing person, but there doesn't seem to be very much else that makes her stand out to me right away.


5. Randi, the Navy diva

Randi looks like the no-nonsense kind of girl who knows what she wants and goes after it. She's a stylist by trade, so she might be an invaluable asset to the geeks at makeover time.


4. Cara, aspiring soap star

Soap stars work extremely hard. They might be some of the hardest working actors out there. Because soaps air five days a week, 52 week a year, their production schedule is very grueling, with very little time to shoot multiple takes, meaning that the actors have to memorize an enormous amount of lines very quickly. And a large part of being smart is having a good memory. If Cara has really been making efforts toward becoming a soap star, then she'll definitely be able to put her mnemonic skills to good use on Beauty and the Geek.


3. Leticia, extreme sports model

Leticia is the oldest beauty among this year's crop at 29, and I think that she'll be able to use the experience that comes with age to her advantage. Plus, I totally dig the lace-up knee-high boots that she is wearing in her photo. She looks just as sassy as any of her younger competitors, and perhaps she has the discipline and wisdom to push her ahead of them too.


2. Amber, runway model

Runway models rock. I'm an avid fan of America's Next Top Model, even though I do so love to poke—or rather, skewer—fun at Tyra Banks & Co. And this season, I have also been recapping Make Me A Supermodel, which is ANTM's classier progeny. Therefore, I know that runway models are a fierce bunch. Amber is going to make it far.


1. Tiffany, one tough mama

Tiffany is adorable in her press photo. Her one raised eyebrow suggests a bemused, quirky view of the world, which will help her relate to her geeky counterparts, and building relationships with people who are not like you is what the show is all about.
