American actor Michael Trucco was born on June 22, 1970 in San Mateo, California. The son of a police officer, he aspired to follow his father’s footsteps, going as far as taking up criminal justice in college. During these times, he was attracted to acting for theater, and took an acting course for non-majors. He was asked to consider changing majors after his remarkable performance in the class; he shifted, and eventually graduated with a degree in theater arts at the University of Santa Clara.
Trucco started his acting career in the mid-1990s, initially playing small roles in several television series. After guest roles in shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, Touched by an Angel and Sisters, he took on a regular role in the syndicated adventure drama Pensacola: Wings of Gold. The series ran until 2000; after that, he continued playing numerous guest television roles, appearing in shows such as CSI, Tru Calling, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Arli$$. He also started appearing in films, first playing a supporting role in the 2001 comedy The Groomsmen, and later starring in others such as Knight Club and Ablaze.
In 2005, Trucco joined the cast of the science fiction series Battlestar Galactica. He took on the role of Samuel Anders, the leader of a group of survivors from the first Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies. He is encountered by Kara Thrace (Katee Sackhoff) and, after falling in love with each other, was promised to be rescued in due time. While waiting, he leads his group in fighting Cylon forces occupying their area. He played the role until the series ended its run in 2008.
Trucco is also a musician, playing lead guitar for the band Simpleworld. In December 2007, he was involved in a serious car accident, where his spine was badly fractured. He was operated on successfully, however, and was considered extremely lucky, considering the serious nature of his injuries.
Aside from acting, Michael would have loved to become a competitive race car driver, or policeman.
Played football and wrestled in high school.
