Michael Hogan was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada. He received his training in acting from the National Theater School of Canada. It was there that he met his would-be wife, actress Susan King Hogan. He and his wife have done several projects together, and two of their three children have followed in their footsteps. Their son, Gabriel Hogan has appeared in several film and television productions, including the first scripted ESPN series, Playmakers.
Hogan has had an extensive career in the entertainment industry. He first appeared on the big screen in 1978 with his portrayal of Reggie in the film, High- Ballin'. His subsequent film credits include Klondike Fever, Gas, Deadly Eyes, The Peanut Butter Solution, Lost!, Cowboys Don't Cry, Palais Royale, Stella, Solitaire (for which he won a 1992 Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role), Clearcut, Road to Saddle River, Soul Survivor, Nights Below Station Street and Marine Life.
As for the small screen, he made his debut on television movie called Klondike Fever. He followed that with roles on a variety of shows and made-for-tv films, such as The Intruder Within, Vanderberg, Adderly, The Little Vampire, The Twilight Zone, E.N.G., Mom P.I., War of the Worlds, Counterstrike, Street Legal, The Last Best Year, Beyond Reality, Gross Misconduct, Lifeline to Victory, Road to Avonlea, Millenium, Jake and The Kid, The Boys Next Door, Two, Dead Man's Gun, The Outer Limits, Shadow Lake, Scorn, UC: Undercover,
Monk , Night Visions, Andromeda, Betrayed and Blue Murder. Additionally, Hogan and his wife appeared as the Fairbanks on 4 episodes of the drama series,
The L Word .
In 1998, he became a regular cast member of the crime drama, Cold Squad, where he gave life to the character, Detective Tony Logozzo. In 2003, he landed the role of Colonel Saul Tigh on the re-imagined miniseries, Battlestar Galactica, and went on to reprise the role when the miniseries was made into a regular show on the Sci-Fi channel the following year. Hogan's character also appeared in six webisodes of Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance.
