Post Emmys 'Battlestar Galactica' Rumors
Tuesday, September 11, 2007
The Battlestar Galactica bunch was getting chatty with the press at this past Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmy ceremony and have spilled a few significant details regarding the upcoming, and final, season of Battlestar Galactica. Unfortunately there was no word on Sci Fi’s rumored plan to split the final season of Battlestar Galactica in half. We’ll just have to sweat that out for the time being. There was, however, some juicy tidbits on what to expect from the upcoming season.
The series has had its share of romantic tension. The relationship between Helo (Tahmoh Penikett) and his Cylon babe Athena (Grace Park) has had its ups and downs. Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) has been seeing a Cylon of her own, and neither of them even knew it. And, of course, the whole Starbuck and Apollo (Jamie Bamber) thing that ended (?) in the boxing ring. Who’d of thought it.
One relationship that has been on simmer since the beginning is between Bill Adama (Edward James Olmos) and President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell). Since it's more of a traditional coupling in the sense that neither are particularly crazy, nor a Cylon – as far as we know – there really hasn’t been a rush to address it creatively. According to Ron Moore, that is ending in the final season.
When asked if there was still hope for the duo, Moore responded "Yes! There is hope for Adama and Roslin, and you'll see a lot of that relationship this year." So if you’ve been aching to see them hook up, prepare for satisfaction. You will very likely be getting your wish.
Somebody else fans are curious about is Starbuck. Various web sites have reported that Starbuck will initially be under suspicion by the fleet, Adama included. With Sackhoff’s commitment as a regular on Bionic Woman, BSG fans have been wondering how long Starbuck will be on board. The answer seems to be: until the end. Battlestar is currently shooting the eighth episode (counting "Razor") of the final season and Sackhoff is expected to be active throughout. Now, the real question is: Is she a Cylon?
