Battlestar Galactica

For Battlestar Galactica fans, the recent shocking mid-season finale marked the beginning of the end for the raw, dark sci-fi drama that has kept viewers captivated for years. As the surviving humans finally landed on Earth only to discover it to be an irradiated wasteland, the questions on the fans' minds are where will the series go from here? And how can the Battlestar Galactica creators wrap up all the loose ends still dangling from throughout the series' three and a half season run?

Though the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica will air come 2009, rumors are being spread that the end of the series may not be the end of Battlestar Galactica after all. All those stories just bursting to be told might come in another format – TV movies, much like the well-received Razor movie previously produced for the SciFi channel.

Last month the rumor was that the SciFi Channel was in discussions to produce three Battlestar Galactica movies after the series' final run next year. With the cast and crew going on to new projects, that idea seemed unlikely. That is, until actress Grace Park stated this weekend that she heard at least one movie is already planned.

"I just heard about the first Battlestar movie being greenlit," Park told the Los Angeles Times. "A TV movie, but still! But this -- it's like, yeah, it's over but we're ready to move on but nobody's manager or agent has been called. It's supposed to start in August."

The actress, who portrays the many versions of Cylon model number eight on the series, was among the many series regulars in attendance this past weekend to celebrate the end of filming for the series' final episode. Rumors of the movie were flying through the party and on set just as much as on the Internet.

"[We would] love to see the continuation of Battlestar with a special event akin to Razor but the idea is still in the discussion stage,” was all the SciFi Channel confirmed with the Los Angeles Times so far.

Though the actors involved with the series seem to think the movie is happening, nothing is set in stone just yet – especially since many actors and crew have moved on to new projects, such as creator Ronald D. Moore, who is working on the new series Virtuality.

Until this is officially confirmed or denied – and with filming supposed to begin in August, confirmation should happen soon -- Battlestar Galactica fans will just need to hope the final episodes of the series answer all of their questions when the series returns in 2009. But if not, there's hope that we can see our favorite characters for at least one last hurrah in an exciting special event production.
