Alessandro Juliani as Lt. Felix Gaeta

Lieutenant Felix Gaeta is portrayed by Alessandro Juliani on the series Battlestar Galactica. Felix is an idealistic, friendly and sensitive individual who easily finds other people trustworthy. In order to finance his collegiate studies in genetics, Felix enlisted for the military. As a military man, he displayed much dedication in carrying out his obligations and tasks, often setting aside things that concerned his personal life.

At the time of the Cylon invasion, Felix was serving as a tactical officer on the Battlestar Galactica. He held on to the position even after they successfully escaped from the Cylons, and was then tasked to accomplish things that were more appropriate given his high intelligence and genetics background. One of these tasks was assisting Doctor Gaius Baltar, his long-time idol, in designing a Cylon detector.

Despite his capabilities, Felix was not spared from making detrimental mistakes. When Commander William Adama was shot by Number Eight copy, Sharon “Boomer” Valerii, Felix was so distracted by the chaos that ensued that he neglected to see that the fleet had been programmed with updated jump coordinates. Consequently, the Galactica was detached from the fleet. Fortunately, Felix was able to redeem himself by networking the ship’s computers, and as a result, they were able to re-calculate the position of the fleet.

When New Caprica was discovered, Felix found out that some of his crewmates, including Colonel Saul Tigh and Anastasia Dualla, were involved in a plot to manipulate the presidential elections in order to ensure the defeat of Gaius to then President Laura Roslin. Later on, Felix joined Gaius’ campaign party and was the one who told the scientist about the Cylon fleet’s arrival over New Caprica. It was later revealed that Felix had been working as an informant for the resistance, but because his identity was a secret, his crewmates viewed him as a traitor. As a supposed collaborator, Felix was tried and sentenced to death, but was later proven innocent when Tyrol confirmed Felix’s identity as the informant.
