Kelsey Grammer is getting a second shot at weekly television sitcom stardom via his new vehicle,
Back to You, where he co-stars with another sitcom veteran,
Patricia Heaton.
Back to You has just completed its first month airing, with the fifth episode of this maiden season on tonight.
Now that he's back to what he does best, providing weekly doses of humor to TV audiences, Grammer is also hoping to get a second chance with something else – being a father.
The 52-year old multi-Emmy Award-winner has four children – two with current wife Camille, the eldest with first wife Doreen Alderman and the second, from a relationship with makeup artist, Barrie Buckner.
Grammer has admitted that up to now, he is still “repairing” his relationship with Spencer, his daughter with Alderman, and Greer, his other daughter with Buckner.
"My relationship with my first two daughters is complicated because of the rancorous divorces,” Grammer told
Ladies Home Journal magazine. “That's life. If I can be of help to them, I will be and there's still repairing that needs to be done.”
While working to improve and strengthen his bond with his older children, Grammer vows to make the best of his time with the little ones he has now.
"I would never let that jeopardize what I have with my two little ones,” he said, referring to the troubles he and his elder daughters have endured. “I'm a devoted slob to them and available physically and emotionally.
I'm the father I always wanted to be."
Kelsey and Camille Grammer's two young offspring, six-year old Mason Olivia and her three-year old brother, Jude Gordon, were both delivered by the same surrogate mother, a Sacramento nurse by the name of Julianna.
Meanwhile, as busy as Grammer is with his weekly
Back to You, he is also currently still filming
Swing Vote, which is a comedy about the United States presidential elections coming down to the vote of one apathetic, working-class, single dad played by Kevin Costner. Others in the cast are veteran Dennis Hopper and comedic heavyweights Nathan Lane, Stanley Tucci and George Lopez.
