Fans will finally witness the highly-anticipated union of two Emmy Award-winning actors,
Kelsey Grammer and
Patricia Heaton, when
Back to You premieres tonight at 8/7c on FOX. Much hype has been generated with the comedians' return on television ever since they became household names in their respective long-running sitcoms. Grammer, who played psychiatrist Dr.
Frasier Crane on
Frasier, and Heaton, who portrayed Debra Barone on
Everybody Loves Raymond, will now be a regular Wednesday night item as part of a 13-episode commitment by 20th Century Fox Television, which serves as a lead out to
‘Til Death, a sitcom that stars Heaton's former costar,
Brad Garrett.
Created and executive-produced by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan,
Back to You centers on a pair of star news anchors with on-air chemistry and off-air conflict who find themselves working together again after 10 years apart.
In the pilot episode, Chuck Darling (Grammer) revisits his old Pittsburgh co-anchor roots after an embarrassing on-air tirade that made its way onto the internet. Following some contemplation about his downward-moving career and his lifestyle of chasing women, he decides to make his comeback by sharing a news desk with old co-anchor Kelly Carr (Heaton), in spite of all the quarreling behind the cameras. Now, the pressure is on both of them as they attempt to take their newscast back to number one.
Joining the lead co-anchors in the pilot are
Fred Willard as Marsh McGinley, the affable sports anchor,
Ty Burrell as Gary Crezyzewski, the often left out field reporter,
Josh Gad as Ryan Church, the overstressed news director,
Ayda Field as Montana Diaz Herrera, the perky and sexy weather anchor, and
Laura Marano as Gracie Carr, Kelly's 10-year-old daughter.
The season opener will also feature guest stars such as Spencer Knowles (Mail Boy), Adam Busch (Production Assistant), Michael Richard Robinson (Weatherman), and Erin Ross (Darcy).
