THQ has just released
Avatar: The Burning Earth, the latest video game offering in the
Avatar: The Last Airbender series. The new video game for Xbox 360 enables fans to continue the epic adventure of
Aang and his gutsy determination to restore balance to his war-torn world.
Released for Xbox 360 on November 19,
Avatar: The Burning Earth is inspired by the second season of the
Avatar animated series, where Aang and his friends,
Toph, and
Sokka, master their skills and fight their way to defend Earth Kingdom against a deadly Fire Nation invasion.
According to reviews,
The Burning Earth gives fans the opportunity engage in multi-player action. Users can opt to play alone or with a friend as Aang,
Katara, Sokka or for the first time, Toph and Jet, as the they battles enemies, solve puzzles or go on adventures to defeat the evil Fire Nation.
Chosen characters can go into the Avatar State to unleash massive powers on enemies while users who play as Prince
Zuko and Uncle
Iroh can perform explosive firebending moves. Moreover, players can select from a variety of characters for an intense fighting action in the All-New Battle Arena.
Bryan Konietzko, one of the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender, says that the video game is an extension of the world of Aang and considers it as a great canvass for taking the characters' adventures into new heights.
“As the art director of the show, it is a blast to see the environments we've drawn and painted rendered in a 3D space with a camera zooming around. We just don't get to do too much of that on the show. There is usually a nice sense of scale in the computer environments, so I love seeing these new interpretations of our world. It is also great to give the fans who are gamers an opportunity to play their favorite characters, or bend their favorite element,” Konietzko said in an interview with gametap.com.
Aside from Xbox 360,
The Burning Earth is also available for PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and Wii.
