Evan Vanfossen "Van" Hansis was born on September 25, 1981 and originated from Greenfield, Massachussets. He was educated at the School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University where he graduated with a degree in acting. He was a professional working with the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts where he participated in productions like On the Razzle, Twelfth Night, and The Indian Wants the Bronx. In 2005, he joined the cast of As the World Turns.

Luke Snyder is played by Van Hansis in the soap opera As the World Turns. Luke was born in 1995 to Lily Walsh and Damian Grimaldi with the name Luciano Eduardo Grimaldi. When he was born, his mother did not know who his father really was but it was found that her husband was Luke's real father. Damian then faked his death and permitted his wife to marry her real love, Holden Snyder. However, he went back to Oakdale to kidnap Luke. Holden was determined to rescue the kid whom he raised as his own son when they were presumed to be dead in an explosion. Luke and Holden were then found to be captives of Dante, Damian's brother. After returning to Oakdale, Holden officially adopted Luke.
