As The World Turns: Henry Will be Sticking Around Oakdale

as the world turnsThanks to fans' incessant efforts, Henry Coleman won't be leaving Oakdale anytime soon.  Following speculations surrounding the departure of Trent Dawson on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns, some last minute negotiations took place, putting a resolution to the 37-year-old actor's contract issues.

"Thank you guys for the campaigning!  Contract issues were resolved and Hank is sticking around.  In fact he's very busy right now.  Consider your mission accomplished, and my thanks eternal," Dawson wrote to his fans online.

Rumors regarding Dawson's exit on As the World Turns surfaced last November when he posted in his blog that things aren't going quite well for his career on the long-running soap.

“'Where is Henry?' My thoughts exactly.  It's been slim pickin's at the studio for a while now, and I appreciate any and all who are engaged in a writing campaign.  I love my job, but I really need the opportunity to perform it,” he wrote back then.

But now that Dawson has inked a deal with the producers of the show, fans can expect good things to lie ahead for the character of Henry.

Dawson joined As the World Turns as Henry for just a couple of days in 1999, but due to fans' positive reception, his soap stint extended to several months, and ultimately, to an indefinite stay on the daytime soap.  In 2005, the show presented him with a contract.

So far, he as earned two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Male Scene Stealer.

Apart from his soap work, his film and theater credits included The Psychic Hour, Loves Labour's Lost: The Musical, Much Ado About Nothing, An Evening of French Farce, Steel Magnolias, and As You Like It, just to name a few.
