There's an icy chill creeping across the Arrow cave, and it has nothing to do with Killer Frost. Oliver and Felicity have kept each other at arm's length all season, and fans are finally going to find out why.
To say Arrow
's hooded vigilante and Star City's premiere technical wonder woman have had a rough year would be one monster of an understatement. From Olicity's crushing breakup to duplicitous girlfriends and slain boyfriends, the former couple's personal lives are far from copacetic. When episode 20 rolls around, Oliver and Felicity will be forced to confront this recipe for interpersonal disaster.
"I don't know if Oliver and Felicity will get together," Amell hedged at Chicago's Heroes and Villains Fan Fest
. "I do know that there has been a coldness, a very deliberate, almost robotic, feeling and temperature to their relationship this year and we explain why that is in an upcoming episode. So hopefully it makes a little more sense."
Arrow will lay the groundwork for this conversation during the series' next episode, "Dangerous Liaisons." Set to air on April 26, the hour will pit Felicity's Helix alliance against the Team Arrow we all know and love.
"This is definitely an examination of the state of their breakup," showrunner Marc Guggenheim told TV Line
. "It comes out of the events of 519 and, quite frankly, all the other episodes that led up to it. Something happens in 519 that really tees up this conversation."
Can Oliver and Felicity reconcile? We all know Amell is the captain of the Olicity 'ship, but Oliver has his own issues to overcome if he wants to become a man Felicity can trust. The surreptitious inclusion of William into Queen's world combined with Ollie's unilateral decision to send his young son into hiding were the secrets and lies that brought Arrow's premier relationship to its knees, but it remains to be seen if Felicity has more to say on the matter.
What do you think? What could be causing the "coldness" between Oliver and Felicity? Do you think Olicity has a future together? Let us know in the comments!
